Italy-Days 13-15

Solofra

After getting every thing ready the day befor, from clothes to games and food for the long car trip, we left. It was a very long car ride the three kids and I squished in the back for 9 hours with only three car stops (one to eat a quick dinner, sandwiches)

We had left around three in the afternoon and arrived that night in Solofra (a small town near Avellino where the roots of the DeAngelis' came from) around 2, 2:30 in the morning. I laugh whenever I think of that moment when I walked in the door to my reletives house tired and half asleep only to be offer, or should I say to have placed in my hand a big Canolli, its a pastry filled with sweet creamcheese and chocolate chips.

Solofra is a small town yet really quite nice. It is surrounded by some what small mountains on three sides and the other side is Avellino, then a nother town then the beach.

The next day or two I was shown the town. I saw the main church which was as goreous as could be, in a small way like a little duomo except newer and lighter.

(the pictures below are of that church.)

This is the front of the church.

This is what you see right when you walk in the door. You are looking "stait down the middle".

You notice in the previous picture the ceiling is covered with paintings this is a close up of two of them.

This picture was taken from the balcony of the home I slept in. Beautiful isn't it.
